I spent three days in the Badlands, sleeping out of my car, making my way out west. I slept just below this hill, the one night hiking up to get a photo of this stranger. The clouds changed with every passing moment. I wandered and wandered through these hills until it became dark, making my way back to the car, listening to the howl of coyotes and watching the faint shapes of a herd of bison moving across the land.
