I camped in the Adirondack Mountains of New York for a few days in the late summer of 2024. Hiking up to the summit of Whiteface mountain, a half mile from the summit, I got caught in a rain storm with 40mph wind gusts. Digging through my bag I realized I had forgotten my rain jacket. I took shelter underneath a bush until the rain let up, arriving at the summit soaking wet. The next few days I spent my time wandering through the mountains, visiting Lake Placid, sitting in a hammock and hanging out around the campfire. I even made a few friends along the way. I'll be back in the Adirondacks as soon as I can, one of my favorite places on the Eastern coast.
